Ford Repair: 1989 Aerostar 3.0 Fuel injection, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum leaks

Question
This one is feeding way too much fuel to the engine. Turned new plugs flat black within minutes along lots of black smoke. I have determinded that there is no vacuum leaks.

Answer
My first guess would have to be that your fuel pressure is too high.  The fuel pressure regulator limits the fuel pressure and flow, and it releases the excess back to the fuel tank.  If the regulator is bad, or the return line is plugged, the excess pressure is released through the fuel injectors.

I hope this helps,
