Ford Repair: ENGINE REPAIR, ford f 150, heli coil

Question
I HAVE A FORD F-150 5.4, HAD A SPARK PLUG BACK OUT AND EVENTUALLY BLOW OUT. IT TOOK ALL THE THEREADS IN THE HEAD WITH IT. THE PLUG HOLE IS ACCESSABLE WITHOUT REMOVING THE HEAD OR ENGINE. HOW DO I REPAIR?  MY THOUGHTS WERE RETAP AND HELI COIL OR REPLACE THE HEAD.

Answer
If you have full access to the spark plug hole; Yes, you could try to use a Heli Coil to repair the threads.  We don't use Heli Coils at the Dealer, we wouldn't be able to warranty the repair.  I don't know how successful that type of repair might be.  But to save some money, it would be worth a try.  Be sure to vacuum out any dirt or metal that falls into the cylinder.  Good Luck.

I hope this helps,
Dave
