Ford Repair: 2000 Ford Expedition, battery cables, ford expedition

Question
Ken,
My Expedition won't start- it won't even turn. The battery seems to be fine. I even jumped it just to try it but it made no difference. The fuses all look fine. The interesting item I noticed was when I go to turn the key to start the engine, the middle panel (i.e. radio, a/c controls, etc...) does not work at all- no power at all. This also why I don't think the problem is a the starter. Any idea's on what this might be?

Answer
Chris,

You either have one of the following: 1) your battery is bad, 2) the battery cables need to be replaced because they are bad or 3) the ignition switch is bad. As far as the section of your control panel where your radio, a/c controls, etc is, you have a short somewhere in that section, which could also figure into why your vehicle won't start as the short is probably draining your battery. My suggestion would be to find the short in that section of the dash, charge your battery, repair the short and then try starting your vehicle with the freshly charged battery. If your vehicle still won't start, then it is one of the 3 things I mentioned at the begining. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Hope that this helps and good luck.
