Ford Repair: coolant trouble, blown head gasket, radiator cap

Question
so i read what you had said about signs of weather or not you have a blown head gasket. I am thinking this could be what is wrong with my car (95 ford thunder bird) it has over heated on me the other day and now it is leaking bad furhter more it has the milky brown color inside the hoses and is blowing white smoke. my question is with all these signs and it over heating like it is could it still be perhaps the freeze plug?

Answer
Billy-

White smoke from the exhaust and muddy oil almost always means a blown head gasket.  Another (though slightly inaccurate) way to check is to remove the radiator cap and let the engine warm up to operating temperature.  If you see bubbles rising in the coolant you can be almost certain that it's a blown gasket.  At this point, I'd feel pretty safe in assuming the gasket's blown from what you've told me.  Hope this helps.
