Ford Repair: Ford Ranger ABS light flashes intermittently, with higher rpm, ford ranger 4x4, engine rpms

Question
My vehicle is a 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4, stepside with the 5-speed automatic and OHC 4.0 engine.  18,000 miles.

Lately, at higher engine rpms (under heavy acceleration, before a shift), the ABS light will flash on for a few seconds, then turn off.  Interestingly, it's ALWAYS associated with the battery charge light.  That is, they both flash on momentarily, then both off together.  This occurs when the tach reaches about 3000 rpm under heavier acceleration.  No other lights illuminate at this time (there is no overall electrical interruption). It is only occasional, but always at higher rpm.  The dashboard battery guage always shows it's charging, and the battery hygrometer always shows green.  The battery starts the vehicle with vigor.  The battery is original, 27 months old.  I have no idea if this a symptom of a typical factory battery failure, or an ABS problem or otherwise.  Any help would be appreciated.  The dealer says they can't do much unless the lights stay illuminated, which they never do.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Neall,
If your truck is still under warrante, take it to your dealer and make them fix it. The lights don't have to be on for them to fix the problem. If not under warrantee then replace your serp belt. It sounds like it might be slipping slightly under acceleration. If that doesn't fix it, it might be your alternator. GOOD LUCK!
