Ford Repair: models and automatic, opel corsa, europe cars

Question
I'm going to buy a used car.
I have to decide between a ford fiesta 1998 automatic, a 2001 non automatic [with a rent ing past] or an opel corsa 2000 [renting past].
what is best.
I have heard the automatic of fiesta is problematic after a certain kilometrage. is it right?

  Honestly, I would love to be of help, but my knowledge of Ford Of Europe cars is almost nothing.  My knowledge of Opel (Europe's General Motors) is even less.  Generally speaking, manual transmissions are easier to deal with if taken care of after high mileage (or kilometrage, whichever)...but I don't know much about European Fiestas, much less what problems they have.  I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
