Ford Repair: engine i.d., e mail adress, police intercepter

i have a 1976 f-2504x4,the guy i bought it from said it has 1968 390 police intercepter,a friend told me in 68 ford only made a 429 or 428 police intercepter,on these engines where would you find the casting numbers? so i can find out exactly what engine i have,or is there a visual difference between them?    thanks for your help.erick

you have to pull the starter to find the numbers.but you have to remember ford USED THE SAME BLOCK FOR THE 360,390 AND 428.THE BEST WAY TO TELL IS MEASURE THE BORE OR CHECK THE CRANKSHAFT NUMBER.if you send me the numbers i can tell you alot about the engine.i have a vast amount of casting numbers,for many makes(thousands).i could also give you alot of info on your engine.write back if your interested.hope this helps.if you want this info send me your e-mail adress as this will take alot of time.(1-2 days)hope this helps
