Ford Repair: 19889 lincon tranny, trans shop, down shift

Question
tranny works fine until car warms up.starts shifting slower and on the down shift it occasionaly slams.I dropped the pan and changed fluid and filter.old fluid looked new and there was no burnt smell.also there was nothing in pan hopefuly it does not mean a rebuild.any advice would be greatly appreciated.is there any tests you can think of.

Answer
JOHN

first thing to do is check the fluid, the car must be warm and idling.the only other thing you can do is check all vaccum lines from the trans to motor.also check the shifting linkage.make sure your engine is in good working condition,a bad or rough idiling engine will cause a rough shifting trans.other than these few things automatic trans are very complex, most techs dont even know how the send them to a trans shop.hope this helps.
