Ford Repair: Alarm, escort lx, alarm system

I own a P reg escort LX 1.6 and over the last few days the standard alarm has started to go off for no reason. once it has gone off a few times it will stop and set off again several hours later or not until the day after
have you any idea what could be wrong and is it something that a local garage could fix or will it have to be taken to Ford

If this alarm system was built in the vehicle at the factory, the dealer can scan the system and tell which sensor is causing the alarm to trigger.  If it is a Dealer installed or aftermarket system, it would not have this capability.  I doubt that a local garage has the equiptment to help you if the system was installed at the factory, but anyone that installs alarms may be able to help you if it was not.
