Ford Repair: Fuel Pump, fuel filter replacement, bosch fuel pump

Question
Re -

Ford duratorq engine 1998cc Bosch fuel pump, (ford part number 1213937) for my transit van.

Would you agree that a well maintained Bosch fuel pump should last more than 70 thousand miles? Ford have said that they will not re - imburse the cost of the pump to me because 'wear and tear is the major factor'

However, Bosch Automotive Original Equipment Dept (Lee Duffy) says that 'You would expect a fuel pump to last much longer than this, easily 150K and that my 70k is not an excessive mileage' and 'Mine would be considered a very rare case!'
Callum Cameron from Feather Diesel Services, Ltd in Halifax say, 'A well maintained fuel pump should go way beyond 70k'

Many thanks for this,

Phil Curtis

Answer
Phil,

While the pump should last longer than 70k miles with proper fuel filter replacement every 30k miles.  Ford warranty is only valid for 36k miles here in the states.  A true ford part number would also have a prefix of 4 digits, 9350 base part number, and a suffix of two letters, here in the U.S.
