Ford Repair: 1988 f150 4x4 aod transmission, hall effect sensors, foot on the gas

Question
When I let my foot off the accelerator to coast to a stop it sounded like my transmission reved up and was making a loud noise until I started back on the gas. It did this twice so I tried to decellerate with my foot on the gas slightly and it didn't do it...otherwise it shifts great and pulls good also.

Answer
Roy,

Your concern is probably transfer case related.  There is a good possibility that one or both of the hall effect sensors on the transfer case that control the shifting of the transfer case into and out of 4x4 when in Awd mode.  You may never see the problem again but if it continues to be a concern have it looked at.
