Ford Repair: Transmission rebuild, explorer 4x4, 1995 ford explorer

Question
How hard is it for a regular guy to rebuild his own transmission? I have a 1995 Ford Explorer and I am taking out the transmission to replace the front seal and was curious to see if I could do the rebuild myself while I have it out. The transmission is a Ford 4R55E in a 95 Explorer 4x4. Thanks for any help you can give me...  Mike

Answer
Mike-

Honestly...to assume you're a truely regular guy I would have to assume that you don't have the special tools required to rebuild a transmission just lying around your garage.  Heck, I don't even have those tools.  They're expensive and not too user friendly if you don't know what you're doing.  Could you rebuild your own transmission?  Probably.  But you'd have to shell out money for tools you'll probably never use again and take a chance going by what some book tells you.  Hope this helps.
