Ford Repair: 289 valve adjustment, crank shaft, valve adjustment

I have a 1967 289 in a jeep and I'm tring to stop the valve noise so I thought I would start with the valve adjustment I've already tried some cleaning fluids with no luck so I'm tring this as part of my trouble shooting as a last step to pulling the cam and lifters to R&R, can you tell me how to do it adjust the valves? It has studs and nuts to hold the rockers and hydrolic lifters....Tim

The valve clearance minimum is 0.082 in (2.08mm). The maximum clearance is 0.152 in (3.86mm).Start with the #1 cylinder at top dead center, using feeler gauges, adjust to spec and then rotate the crank shaft till #2 cylinder is top dead center and adjust, repeat this process for every cylinder until you have them all adjusted. of course you need to loosen the rocker arm retaining nut to make these adjustments.
