Ford Repair: 95 tarus gl wagon, speed needle, electronic speed

trans isnt down shifting correctly,when i come to stop sign etc the trans will slip unless i manuely down shift.if i come to a complete stop its ok all gears work great oil&filter just changed.the speed needle still says 5mph at a stop also the needle waves back n forth when driving could this be the problem? any help much thanks

The incorrect downshift and the speedometer fluctuation problems could be caused by the tranmissions electronic speed sensor.  But you may have internal transmission problems if the trans is "Slipping".  If the Transmission Fluid and Filter were just changed, I would start by checking the fluid level.  If the fluid was brown and had a "burnt" smell to it before it was changed, that would also indicate a internal trans problem.
