Ford Repair: 1997 Ford Explorer XLT Daytime Running Lights, ford explorer xlt, daytime running lights

Question
Ken,

I recently exported a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT from the US to Canada... a condition of inspection is the installation of daytime running lights. I hope to be able to do this myself rather than send the vehicle to the shop. I understand that some models have a "DRL module"... where do I find this, and if possible, what part would I need to purchase to accomplish my goal of installing DRL's? Also, under the hood there is a note that there is a fuel pump shut off value - I haven't started the vehicle in a while, just in case it doesn't start and the shut off valve is the reason where would I find the reset?

Thanks in advance for your help... 2 questions in one!

Jason

Answer
Mr. Rowland,

Unfortunately, the daytime running lights are in the wiring harness and if you do not have the module, you will need to take it to a garage to program it into your system.
The iniertia switch (or fuel pump shut off switch) is located on the passenger side of the transmission hump on the firewall under the carpet. I hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.

Ken
