Ford Repair: 96 Explorer Headlamp, explorer eddie bauer, bad hope

Question
I have a 96 Explorer Eddie Bauer that has automatic headlights. Every now and then the headlights will just shut off even if I switch them from auto to full running. The quick resolve that sometimes works is playing around with the highbeam/signal wand it may or may not come back on. Just wondering if it is an electrical thing or a simple fix. The other thing is when I turn on the vent it blows cold air, like air conditioning cold air, and if I have it on while idle for any amount of time it causes a loud noise in the engine. Other then these two problems it is a great vehicle. Any help advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Justin,

It sounds like your head light problem is in the high beam/signal wand, which would be an electrical problem and could be as simple as a loose connection or something a little more complicated like a bad switch.
As for the loud noise in the engine, I would recommend that you check your compressor as it sounds like the compressor is going or is bad. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
