Ford Repair: 94 Ford Taurus Wagon blowing fuses, 30 amp fuse, ford taurus

Question
I have a 1994 Ford Taurus Wagon GL, V6 3.8 litre engine.  It has 82600 miles on it. The problem has occurred in all types of weather conditions.  My Ford has a 30 amp and a 10 amp fuse that keeps blowing.  I had no problems with the car for about the first year I'd had it.  I tried to take a trip to Georgia and the 30 amp blew for the first time.  It's been an ongoing problem and I could usually just replace the fuse and it would run again.  I then had the 10 amp blow after the 30 amp blowing a few times.  Again, I replaced the 10 amp fuse this time and it started up but with hesitation.  Like a spit and sputter type deal but mostly just on take offs.  On some occasions, it has hesitated while driving.  But anyways, I drove it to my sisters, which is like 15 mins. away, the car did fine.  Then on the way back, after not even driving for 5 mins., the darn thing died on me right in the middle of traffic.  I pulled it off to the side of the road and tried to replace the fuse but even before I got the engine cranked over, the fuse blew.  We went 3 days later to try to retrieve my car and whoh and behold, we put a 10 amp fuse in it and it started, ran fine the whole way home.  The 30 amp fuse runs my spark to my engine, the distributor and the fuel pump according to the manual. The 10 amp fuse is the accesory feed.

Answer
Amy, to properly test the car you'll need schematics and a multi-meter.
Schematics you may be able to obtain from your local Ford dealer... ask the service department to copy a couple of pages for you (tell them which fuses you are checking).

I would expect that one problem your car has is a failing fuel pump - that would explain the 30 amp fuse blowing and the loss of power that you sometimes feel.
The other fuse probably feeds many items and will need close examination to determine which item is drawing too much current.

Hope this helps...
