Ford Repair: Ford Tarus SHO circa 1980s, salvage yard, mustang fastback

Question
My son and I believe that Ford produce the Tarus SHO with a Yamaha 32 valve V8. The T-Bird platforms are rear wheelers with the 3.8 v6.    what where the years that Ford used the Yamaha V8 engines???????

I would like to find one of this gems and rebuild it: an use  in my 1969 Mustang fastback..   I guess we could get a 4.6 or the new 5.4 L.  I have contacts at the local salvage yard and for a case of beer and a couple of $100 I can get the smashed option.

Answer
Bob-

I know that Yamaha produced the V6 SHO motors in the earlier Tauruses, but I don't know that they made the V8 motor found in the short lived "bubble" Taurus SHOs.  Even if you could find one my guess is that it would be a nightmare trying to adapt it to a rear wheel drive project since all SHOs were front wheel drive.  The 4.6s or 5.4s would be a much easier job, but if you're one who rises to a challenge then you may be able to make it work.  Hope this helps.
