Ford Repair: Using up Starters, 351 winsor, fly wheel

Question
I have replaced my starter 7 times in my 1985 Ford F150 truck, 351 winsor, 4bl, autotrans. The truck will start for a few days, then  the starter just "zings". the engine almost sounds like it is binding or wrenching itsself over, and starting very quickly and hard/I have replaced the voltage regulator, ( i did notice that the capacitor wire was broken) . Just how important is that capacitor, also. I have also had the flywheel inspected, filed, checked for tightness. I have also taken the truck to a shop for repair. They replaced the starter, but the starter is still going out all the time. I am very frustrated, and would sure appreciate any insite you would kindly share. Thank you so much, and i really to truly hope to hear back from you. I will appreciate dearly any info or knowledge you could share with me on this issue. Thanks, and wishing you a very wonderful day. Bye for now.

Answer
DON

go to your local auto parts store and get a spacer.i know auto zone sells them if there is one near you.the only other thing it could be is a bad fly wheel or they are selling you the wrong starter.by the way this was a problem for this engine from 85-88 most of the time the spacer will fix the problem.hope this helps.
