Ford Repair: car wont start, chevrolet 4x4, starter solenoid

Question
I was driving my son's 4x4 and I turned it off for 5 minutes and the car would not start again. When I turn the key it does nothing. The battery is ok.I rolled the windows up(electric) Could it be the starter or the alternator? Thanks                                                           chevrolet 4x4 older model early 90's maybe

Answer
Carla-

My guess is it's either the starter itself or the starter solenoid.  I'd replace the solenoid first...they cost around $10-$20 and can be replace in around 30 minutes even if you have no clue what you're doing...it's pretty straight forward.  If that doesn't clear it up then I'd move onto the starter.  The alternator isn't an option since the battery is in charge of cranking the motor...the alternator takes over after the motor's running.  Hope this helps.
