I have a 1986 Ford Mustang lx convertable and its broken =[

Answer
Kristy-

It sounds like your starter solenoid went bad.  You can pick a new one up for around $10-$15 and install it yourself in about 20 minutes.  In '86 models I believe they are located on the passenger side fender about halfway between the battery in the firewall.  It should be much clearer after you get the part...just look for something that looks exactly like it.  They're always pretty accessible.  Hope this helps.
