Ford Repair: 88 Bronco Brake Problems, 1988 ford bronco, ford bronco

Question
I recently purchased a 1988 Ford Bronco.  I replaced all the pads, wheel cylinders in the rear, and calipers in the front.  I bled the brakes and hoped that this would make my brake light and Rear ABS light go off, but both are still illuminated when the vehical is running.  Another problem I am having is the pedal sinks pretty far before the brakes kick in, almost like they have to be bled again.  If I bleed them again, it would be my third time.  Not to mention that my right front brake must be sticking because after about a 30 min drive it smells like burning brakes.  Any advise you could give would be great.

Answer
Hi Jason,
The brake light will come on anytime the ABS light is on. You have an ABS problem. The only way to tell what it is, is to have your mechanic "pull the code" from the ABS computer and then replace the bad component. It could be your RABS valve that is bad. This will also cause a low pedal if it is bad. Also make sure the rear shoes are adjusted up. If all those are OK then you will need to replace the master cylinder. You may need to replace the right front brake hose if the caliper is still sticking or your new caliper may be bad.
GOOD LUCK.
