Ford Repair: 1995 ford taurus transmission, ford taurus, salvage yard

i don't know if you know anything about a 1995 taurus transmission, but i took it in for a transmission tune up because it started to act funny on a vacation to TN. but is there a way it can be rebuilt a a cheaper price than just buting a new one. I have found a new one but i'm kinda in a jam being stuck in tn so i was wondering if there is a cheaper easier possible way? I'm just looking for as much info as possible on this! If you don't know anything is there anyone that you can refer me to? Thank You for your time

You can get a rebuilt for about 1200 bucks or you can obtain one from a local salvage yard for about 700 bucks. A new transmission is an easy 2500 bucks or more. There is no cheap easy solution, unfortunately. I hope that this is of help to you.
