Ford Repair: 35th ann. mustang, head gasket problems, gas mileage

i've been thinking of buying a 35th anniv. mustang.it has a 3.8 v6,i have'nt heard much about this engine or its track record , do you have any comments that would help? they're asking 6500. its silver and in ex.cond.drives great and is pretty peppy.an auto trans. with 85,000 miles on it.it just bugs me about the v6 its a car for the wife and she's not to concerned about horsepower,but good gas mileage and a nice looking ride your opinion would be appreciated. thanks       mark

  The Mustang 3.8L motors have held up very well.  Some other 3.8L motors (mainly the Windstar and Taurus motors)had horrible head gasket problems, but the Mustangs have held up over the years.  I know what you're saying about the V6...but if it's for your wife and she doesn't care then it's alright.  Just take good care of it and it should last for a good while.  Hope this helps.
