Ford Repair: drum to disc conversion, rear drum brakes, disc conversion

-------------------------actuall it would only cost me about 800 in parts, calipers would be off a 3/4 gm 4x4.

i have a'76 e250, am thinking about converting to disc brakes on the rear. any input on this, good or bad?

Hi Harold,
Not a good idea unless you have alot of money or you can get a complete rear end off a newer truck. The rear drum brakes on a 76 are just as good as anything newer.

I have a 78 and wouldn't spend anything on the brakes as it stops on a dime. Do you need extra stopping power? 800 is a lot of money for a 76. You may also need to get the master cylinder and proportioning valve. Good Luck!
