how do you kno that you need to replace your clutch

The easiest way to tell is if you have to push the clutch pedal almost all the way to the floor before the clutch will engage. Another way to tell is if you push the clutch all the way to the floor and your gears grind a little when you shift.
These are the easiest ways to tell. If neither of these things are happening then you should check the master and slave cylinders to be sure they are not leaking.
