Honda Repair: Rear Inner Tire Wear, honda civic lx, 1992 honda civic lx

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1992 honda civic lx.  What would rear inner tire wear indicate?  I was told toe out, but I thought it had something to do with camber.  Thanks

ANSWER: There are several things that it could indicate. First, be sure that your suspension is in good condition. Second, make sure you don't have a bunch of really heavy stuff stored in the trunk. Third, camber is a very common cause of this problem. If the toe was out of adjustment it would cause the tire to "feather".
You need to get an alignment asap and maybe get new tires. Then be sure to rotate them according to the owners manual.

QUESTION: I have had it alinged basically they told me that is all they could do.  This was a couple of years ago.  I drive about 90 miles a day.  A previous owner ran the car into the ditch and ripped the right rear mount where the lower control arm hooks to the axle.  I believe this is correct.  It has been welded back together.  He said it was because of this, that he couldn't get the alingment back just correct.  So would an adjustable lower control arm work or something to that nature?

Answer
An adjustable one might work, but there is no way to know for sure. Probably your best bet would be to find an auto body person and ask them what to do about it. It might need a professional to re-weld it to get it within specs.
Also, if you rotate your tires often it will help with the problem if you don't want to get it fixed.
