Honda Repair: basic tranny question, nissan transmission, transmission questions

Question
I know you dont answer Nissan transmission questions but it is pretty basic.......if I needed to replace the rear main seal ( engine - tranny contact point ) of a 1993 pathfinder XE 4x4 ( automatic - 307,000 km ) that required a complete take out of the tranny to replace a $10 rubber seal.....that leaked tranny fluid every time I drove the vehicle any kind of distance.....what would happen if I tried to drive the vehicle on a 725 mile ( 1200 km ) moving trip without doing this repair?

could I not keep refilling the tranny fluid every 100 km ?

Answer
Peter, you could. Rear main seals are notorious on all engines for leaking when the milage reaches 120K+ Whichever the choice is yours. Keep a close eye on the fluid level. Drive the minimum speed and look for blue/black smoke. This is an indication that the fluid level is leaking excessively. Good luck to you and on your trip.
