Honda Repair: 1990 Honda Accord turns over but wont start, honda accord ex, 1990 honda accord

Question
1990 Honda Accord EX 5 speed 2.4L 297,000 miles. New battery installed 3 months ago, turns over fast and freely, but will not start.  It ran perfectly 1 week ago.  The dealer has suggested the fuel filter, igniter, ECU. How do I know whether it's any one of these without trial and error, or do I need to have the dealer diagnose the problem?

Answer
Rick, you need to evaluate the check engine codes and then repair that particular area in distress. Don't go to the dealer you can do this easily in your own garage. Near the passenger side floorboard-kick panel area or just below the right hand corner of the glovebox will be a 2-pin (blue or gray in color) plug. With the key off, take a paper clip and jump both pins. It may still be taped to the wire harness with some blue tape.  Turn the key on and count the flashes of the light and see what the code is. You can google the codes as well as additional information for other areas of repair.
