ANSWER: James, you only have 2 options to take this issue and repair it. Honda dealership or a trusted electrical automotive repair shop. Whichever the issue is electrical related and could lead to future problems with other components.

QUESTION: im pretty good with electrical if i just had a starting point is there any where i can get a schematic of the dash wiring or of individual systems such as the climate control? i have already looked through the diagrams in like the haynes manuals but there is too much left out. im not ready to give up just yet. thanks

Answer
James, alright then. Why does the climate control still have power after key is removed?

Before i get into details, do you have an aftermarket alarm installed?
If no, then proceed. If yes, I would suspect that the wiring with the aftermarket alarm has something directly to do with this issue and needs to be inspected and evaluated.

Start by removing and inspecting the climate control cluster. When removing this unit pay attention for hidden screws and trim paneling. I have personally never pulled this unit out of this specific vehicle but, it cannot be any different then the multiple units i have pulled out of similiar vehicles. Pop off all of the buttons and switches. They should just pull off. Remove the face of the unit. This usually exposes hidden Phillips head screws or what not. Unit should slide out. Remove what ever electrical plugs or what not retaining the unit to the dash. You are going to physically inspect all of the electrical plugs for obvious damage. Both, at the unit and the dash sides.

Unfortunately dash wiring diagrams are very hard to find unless you have access to an actual Honda manual. Both Haynes and Chiltons versions for repair manual are so basic its ridiculous. There are a few floating around the internet though so maybe with a little luck you can search for and find one or two.

Whichever this is the first area i would recommend you start. You can also isolate the actual wiring or wire causing this issue. Send me a follow-up and let me know how it is going for you.
