Honda Repair: 94 Civic EX radio code doesnt work, honda dealership, radio code

Question
The ECU was changed in my 94 Civic EX (due to theft) and now the radio code doe not turn on the radio. What should I do?  Would changing the ECU do this?

Answer
Kim, if the code does not work for the stereo then the code is the wrong code. Of course replacing the ECU will cause the radio to disable due to the fact that you remove the (-) battery cable. If the code is not working for the stereo possibly the stereo was replaced? Therefore requiring a different code. Whichever the case and history considering your vehicle remove the stereo. Write down all the information on the stereo or take the entire unit to any Honda dealership and they will tell you what the code is for free. If the code is the same as the one you have then you have a problem with the unit and probably needs to be replaced. If code is different simply enter the code and remember to write down the number somewhere for future reference.
