Honda Repair: no start-1997 crv, obd 2 scanner, cylinder position

Question
I have 1997 crv with 2.0 engine with intermittent no run condition. I have no spark coming from distributor, how can i diagnose ignition spark problem? Can i test ignition module?

Answer
Gary, Honda's are fairly straight forward when they have problems. Assuming your distributor has power running to it then the failure resides in the ignition control module. If you had an OBD 2 scanner and read the codes it would read that there is an issue with #1 cylinder position. Replace the part and get a warranty with the part. Carry the tools in your car to replace this ignition control module just in case the new unit fails on you too for a couple of months. This is not uncommon to fail at 85k - 120k. Distributor will be failing next. Start to shop and save up for this part.
