Honda Repair: sunroof, honda prelude, plastic molding

Question
Ive had my 1987 Honda Prelude for 10 years and suddenly the sunroof wont open. if I push the button to open I hear nothing, but if i push close I can hear the motor. Is it stuck or what. If the motor was bad would it still do this. Can I check this easily by myself? Thanks so much for you're help!! I am attempting to fix(hopefully) minor issues myself.

Answer
Robin, it is possible the sunroof motor is bad. And it is not uncommon for the roof to only activate one way. There could be a wiring issue too, but, doubtful. In my experiences it sounds like there is a blockage in the tracks. Dirt build up over the years, debris, who knows? You can manually crank your sunroof shut/open with an Allen key. I don't know exactly where the spot is to insert the Allen key but it is probably hidden under the light switch or interior plastic molding on the roof. Whichever you can test to see for what the problem is when you get the roof opened a bit.
