Honda Repair: Toyota windshield wiper, worst case scenario, windshield wiper

Question
Dear Travis:

I hope you can help me.  There are no experts available for Toyota. I am trying to replace the windshield wiper on the passenger side of a 1998 Camry.  The apparatus is the hook type.  The wiper has been on a long time and is difficult to get off.

There is a tab on the old wiper and I have tried pushing it in both directions as I try to remove the wiper.  I can not get it off.  Could it be stuck because of rust or some other substance?

Do you have any suggestions on how to get it off or spray some time of material that will loosen the grip?

Thanks for your time.

Answer
John, yes. Corrosion, rust or it could be just plain old a pain in the #$% to get off. Squeeze the tab towards the wiper arm or "in". Then pull the wiper down the arm. A couple of jerks might be needed. Worst case scenario - completely brake off the wiper. It is plastic and your wiper arm is metal. New wiper comes with all that stuff.
