Honda Repair: camshaft postion sensor, camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor

Question
Ok so a year ago a week after my timing belt service the car went into limp mode check engine light came on then went off. Now a year later the same thing , cruising on the highway and cel comes on and car goes into limp mode. Auto zone pulled code P1361 camshaft position sensor or misfire. After driving a bit to get home the CEL went off. PEp boys wants 300 bucks to replace it. I did check it to see if the connection was tight and it was.

Answer
Cary, camshaft position sensor? Or do you mean the crankshaft position sensor? Anyways it is not uncommon for this sensor to go bad after changing the timing belt. $300 is a lot of money to replace the sensor. Have you called the dealer to see what they charge to replace it? It will give you an idea of what it truly costs. Have the check engine code evaluated again before you spend $300 though. Not sure how mechanically inclined you are, but, I would by a used one, install it, and hope it lasts for a while. Hope this helps you out...
