Honda Repair: Honda Accord 1998 RPM bounces, torque converter clutch, automatic transmission problems

Question
Hi,
I'm having a problems with a Recently Purchased 1998 Honda Accord LX automatic, Four Door, Fwd 2.3L VTec. 140000 miles.
When ever i accelerate, the RPM goes up to 4000 and bounces, or sometimes it goes up to 5000 or even 6000 RPM but most of the time it Bounces at 4000 RPM. I've tried to find some answers online but no help at all.
Some parts from the car that i noticed where changed where the Radiator and a cold air intake was added as well, also I've notice that the exhaust pipe is dented pretty badly. i was wondering,
if the problem is with the engine, or simply something else like the dented pipe or the parts that were added or even a sensor. i don't want to make any more moves on changing parts. I've had it checked, because the engine light was on as well, but all that came up was something with the oil pressure, and i got that fixed.
and now i don't know whats causing this problem, can you help me. any idea, anything at all will help? Thank you Very Much.

Answer
1998 to 2002 Honda's have been known to have automatic transmission problems.

The symptoms you have described leads me to believe that the transmission has internal problems.

Have someone with a scanner or an HDS(Honda Diagnostic System) check the transmission part of the ECM(Electronic Control Module).

They will more than likely find a P-0700 code which is a transmission code stored.

P-0740 is the most common which has to do with the Torque Converter Clutch problems.

Good luck.
