Honda Repair: 1992 Honda Accord Timing Belt Replace?, speed timing, honda accord

Question
Hello, I own a 1992 Honda Accord with 275,000 miles.  Recently, while driving on the freeway (65 MPH), the timing belt broke and I pulled the car over at the next exit. I am debating whether it is worth it to have the timing belt replaced, hoping that there is no internal damage to the engine. The car has a lot of miles and I am concerned with spending $$ to have the belt replaced and then finding out there is hundreds of $$ of damage to the engine. Is there any way to determine the probability of engine damage? It is a 4 cylinder 2.2L I think. Looking for guidance on whether it is worth fixing or not, in your opinion... Thank you in advance!!

Answer
Dean, that is a decision only you can make yourself. In my experiences with freeway speed timing belt breaks, I have the head sent out to be rebuilt too. Chances are it bent some or all the valves. With the head being rebuilt you get everything done right and new. Along with the timing belt do a water pump, cam seal, and set the timing. With all this done you have a very strong top end rebuilt and greatly increases the reliability to the motor.
