Audio Systems: Sub stop playing on rough or bumpy road, rca cables, kenwood kdc

Question
I just installed a MTX amp and sub to a Kenwood KDC-222 head unit in my 98 Jeep, all connections are tight(solder) and good grounds. Bass cuts out when on a rough road or when I hit a bump. To get the sub playing again I have to push the top middle of the head unit.  Any ideas?

(btw) this is also happening to a friend of mine in a honda, she has a Kenwood KDC-919 head unit different amp and sub.

Answer
And you already said the headunit has an apparent problem that is tied to this intermitent sub problem.
Whats the question, again?  ;)

I would think it may be time for different named head units.
Not to digress on Kenwood...
I have a Kenwood removable face CD headunit that is 10+ years old and it works perfectly (though I always use the case for the faceplate when not in use). They can indeed get damaged.

You might want to check out the RCA cables and jacks but it sounds like a bad head unit so far.. that is if the ALL of the grounds are in fact secure.
