Honda Repair: 97 honda civic problem, coolant system, air bubbles

Question
I have a 1997 honda civic and while it is idling the engine revs by itself. the rpms go up and down. what could this be any help is appreciated.

Answer
Perry, in my past experiences I've noticed that this is caused by air bubbles still in the Coolant system that have not been bled out completely. Have you had any work done recently to the Coolant system? Have you added or lost Coolant? If this doesn't solve the issue I would then recommend having a diagnosis done to the TPS sensor on the Throttle body. Most mechanics should be able to measure the Ohms resistance easily. Also have the Timing checked too.
