Honda Repair: Major coolant leak 93 Civic, vacuum hoses, coolant leak

Question
I have a 93 Civic 1.5 with 195K miles. When stopped at a parking lot, I noticed a major breach in cooling system. The steam appeared to be coming somewhere between the engine and firewall, almost center but slightly to the passenger side, but from down low, below the heater core lines. Could the problem be coming from the oil cooler or the lines going to it?

Answer
Hi Steve sounds to me like you should inspect the lower radiator hose where it meets the Thermostat housing. Remove the hose and inspect for damage, small pinches, etc. There are also small hoses that look like vacuum hoses but actually contain coolant too. These are located between the Throttle body and the Intake manifold. These hoses are much more difficult to inspect due to the size and location, so, be thorough. The steam is a product of the coolant hitting the Exhaust manifold. Also you might want to inspect the Thermostat housing, Thermostat and make sure those are not leaking as well. I would replace all hoses and install a new Thermostat and flush the coolant considering your car has 195K on it. Good luck...
