Honda Repair: replacing a 2004 Civic broken tail light assembly, foam seal, newer cars

Question
Travis,
I have a cracked tail light on my 2004 Honda Civic I'm trying to remove and replace. I've removed all visible screws attaching the back of the light to the frame, but it seems stuck to something on the bottom. I was wondering if I'm missing some screws that attach the bottom to the frame? (But, I have the new tail light and I don't see anything else I'm missing.) I just can't get the tail light off!

Answer
Hi Stephen, on some of the newer cars they still will have a foam seal around the perimeter of the tail light that will be very difficult on removal. Do you think you have all the screws removed? If so, try putting some pressure on the tail light, with one hand on one side of the light and one hand on the other side. Not to much pressure just enough to see what is holding it in place and preferably near the corners and work your way around. If you have a hidden/missed screw this will show you without damaging areas. Let me know if this helps...
