Honda Repair: 2000 Honda Accord starting problem, battery cables, auto battery

Question
Lately when I try starting my car it whins instead of starting. I have to keep cleaning the battery cables and then it will start for a day or 2 then does the same thing. I have 109874 miles on the car. What is my solution? Is it the cables or something else?

Answer
Hi David, i would inspect the Alternator and have it tested. Also have your battery terminals replaced and your wires inspected for corrosion. You should check the battery too. It is common for an Alternator to go out and take the battery with it. You can also look for a date code on the battery. If it is older than 6 years (or close) condemn the battery when you repair the Alternator. An Auto Battery and Electric shop should be able to test this and do the work for you as well. Let me know if this helps...
