Honda Repair: 91 Accord EX - trouble codes & speedometer trouble, vehicle speed sensor, trouble light

Hi,

My speedometer died and the trouble light came on simultaneously.  Is there any possible correlation?  I don't find a related trouble code.

Before I plunk down $150.00 for a new Vehicle Speed Sensor, is there a way to tell if the problem is the VSS or the head unit?

And lastly, do any emission control problems tend to crop up more frequently than other?

Im going to bet that its your speed sensor. If you look under the passanger dash , behind the glove box youll see a blue plug, jump that plug with a paper clip or a wire and count out the blinks on the check engine light. Let me know what code you get and we can go from there.
