Honda Repair: 88 accord auto transmission, torque converter, highway speed

Question
Hi there, my clutch seems to slip a wee bit intermittently after stopped at a stop light.  Also, it seems to carry RPM longer than I'd expect when slowly accelerating to highway speed, then shifting somewhat aggressively.  Along with that at highway speed (about 60 mph) it regularly drops from overdrive back into 4th gear and back into overdrive.  I feel I'll burn out my clutch much sooner if this continues.  What can I do to solve my transmission issues, or is this all normal stuff going on?
thanks for your response,
Dallas

Answer
Hi Dallas, you don't have a clutch with an Automatic Transmission. You are describing the Torque Converter slipping or the Transmission itself. Economically speaking start by having the Transmission fluid flushed and replaced. And have your Kick-down cable/linkage and Gear selector cable/linkage inspected for damage/repair/adjustment. If you still have similar issues I would suspect the Torque Converter or Auto Transmission. I hope this helps...
