Honda Repair: 1991 Honda Civic, honda models, tank cleaners

Question
I have a 1991 Honda Civic hatchback.  I know that I have a hole in the exhaust between the Catalytic converter and the muffler. This week I started to hear a squeaking noise from around the distributor so I replaced the rotor and cap, the noise is still there. I also just added a bottle of engine cleaner to my tank. Well my check engine light is on now, is it because of the cleaner I added or is the distributor?  And what should I replace to stop the noise from the distributor?  Thanks for any advice.

Answer
The distributor will set a check engine light as the TDC sensor and pickup are in there. Let me ask you this: When you put the cap and rotor on did you notice a lot of orange colored dust in the distributor? If you did then the distributor sub assembly needs to be replaced. Basically it needs a distributor if this is the case. I have seen this over and over again on numerous Honda models. Usually the tank cleaners are harmless and won't cause a CEL. I think it was just a coincidence. Hope that helped. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me.
