Honda Repair: temperature gauge near speedo ?, civic lsi, temperature gauge

Question
hi, my question is the temp indicator in my 93 civic lsi seems to stay on C, i was told it will raise after i drive a while. isnt it ment to go to the middle as soon as i start the car? if it raises to H i kno its over heating, but as its on C is this a problem and if so what is the actual thing it is keeping track of?

Answer
Shannon, this is tricky cause it could be two things, one is that you could have air in your lines which cause and improper reading and secondly you may need to replace your thermostat, even though the temp is reading cold the thermo could be stuck, therefore when it does run hot, when you discover it may be to late. Also you need to ensure that you have a mixture of 50-50 water and antifreeze, let me know the outcome!
