Honda Repair: Fuel Pump, gage and engine light, honda passport, fuel light

Question
I also have a 99 Honda Passport, and the fuel light comes on with engine light on gas tank is full and the dial shows empty. Cost with dealer is about $541.00 to replace system. My questions is why there has not been a recall. Reason is that I was traveling 70Mph when engine shut off due to fuel pump problems. AT first I had thought I had a faulty gage but was not aware this could be a danger as well.

it would have been something so minor to fix and how much miles has the car done. But everything has its ups and downs. its of no danger when a car konks out, pullover and call someone, but there has been no recalls on this vehicle as to appose of no threat to people as a dangerous vehicle.
