Question -
I have steam and water comming from my tailpipe when cold, I have replaced the thermostat, and sensor switch, fan works fine, engine overheats, upper hose superhot while lower hose is cold, bypassed the distributor to test head and did not bubble over from radiator.  Could it be the water pump, blown head gasget, cracked block, or cracked head, whats the deal.  The car is 1994 Honda Civic LX D15B7, with manual trans, 1.5, 16 valve.  please help.

Answer -
Does the engine overheat?  Are you using coolant?

Answer
Sounds like a blown head gasket.  Very common in this engine.  You will have to replace the head gasket with updated Honda gasket and replace the bolts as well.  Also I would have a machine shop pressure check the head and have the machine shop deck/shave the head to make sure its flat.
