Honda Repair: Honda 97 Accord LX, pan gasket, 2 quarts

Question
Hi,
My Honda '97 Accord LX has been leaking oil over the past couple of months about small drops in my garage.  I just got an oil change and there was only 1-2 quarts left and I got scared.  What kind of repairs should I expect and what would an estimated cost be?

Answer
Oil leaks are a very hard thing to guess at without being able to look at the car.  It could be the oil pan gasket, the rear main seal (which would involve removing the trans), the seals behind the timing belt area (would involve removing the timing belt and replacing the seals) or valve cover gaskets or the distributor subhousing.  I really couldn't give you a very good estimate on price without knowing where the oil is coming from.
