Toyota Repair: Passing gear hesitation!, avalon computer, new avalon

Question
-------------------------
Followup To of my computer. At the time,I couldn't
think of, coil packs Ted! My old engine used 6 coil
packs, and the new Avalon used 3 coil packs! to keep
everything as it was set up on my computer, they kept
my computer, and put the 6pack setup on the new engine.
So they took whatever was necessary off my old engine
be it the intake, the top plenum, whatever it took, off
the old engine, to install the six pack on the Avalon
engine, which had the 3pack. Again they didn't use the
computer from the Avalon. They said the engines were the same,so they just switched the coil pack setup.

I don't think the computers between the two engines are compatible and that's where the problem may very well be, I think I need a little more info, from what I'm understanding so far the original engine had six coil packs and the replacement engine had three coil packs firing two cylinders each is this correct?
What is meant by using"my old setup"? Did they install the computer from the Avalon? Did they install all six coils on the replacement engine? I normally don't get involved in this sort of thing but if you can give me some more info it would help.

Answer
OK, it makes a little more sense now but I think it would have been wise to use the avalon computer anyway, the only way to be absolutely sure is to compare the part numbers of both computers, remember also that the computer also controls the transmission and the avalon and camry transmissions may not be the same so that is another thing to check, make sure the transmission ID#s are the same, you can find this information on the sticker on the driver's door.
